The Stunning Views of Hvar Town and the Paklinski Islands

Enjoy spectacular views of Hvar Town and the Paklinski Islands. Some of the best viewing spots are on two hills above Hvar Town, which are visited during an e-tuk-tuk tour. Spanish Fortress on top of one, and Napoleon Fortress on top of the other hill. Historic architecture blends with stunning natural scenery, each telling its unique story through its sturdy stone walls and lush greenery.

Take in sweeping vistas of Hvar and its harbor, the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea shimmering under sunlight, and romantic sunsets for memorable moments with your significant other.
Spanish Fortress (Fortica)

The Spanish Fortress (Fortica) on the hill above Hvar Town was built in 1557 and was a military stronghold in historical times. Nowadays, this charming fortress offers fantastic photo opportunities of Hvar and its harbor. Accessible on foot (uphill), e-bike, or e-tuk-tuk, it’s a great place to visit on your Hvar sightseeing tour.
Napoleon Fortress (Napoljun)

Enjoy the stunning views of the town and Paklinski Islands, surrounded by the clear blue of the Adriatic Sea. This beautiful vista, which unfolds like a canvas, can be seen from the hill where the Napoleon Fortress (Napoljun) stands. The Fortress, now home to the Hvar Observatory, is located near the spot where I took the photos for this article and video for social media. There’s a bench there where you can sit, relax, and take in the view. From this point, you can also enjoy romantic sunsets.
Brusje – Lavender and Rosemary, Rural Stone Architecture

The houses in Brusje offer insight into traditional Dalmatian rural stone architecture. The residents of this picturesque village are known for producing high-quality essential oils from lavender and rosemary.

Enjoy views of the lavender fields and traditional rural stone architecture from the terrace of a family-run restaurant with a refreshing drink in hand (made of local ingredients). Additionally, you are welcome to explore the owners’ collection of handicrafts and artifacts.

Malo Grablje and Velo Grablje Tell the Story of the Traditional Dalmatian Rural Lifestyle

Malo Grablje village has been abandoned since the mid-20th century, and the remaining houses and streets offer a glimpse into a rural lifestyle from many years ago. The villages of Malo Grablje and Velo Grablje tell stories of the traditional Dalmatian rural way of life and charming stone structures and dry stone walls amid lush scenery, illustrating traditional architecture.

Explore dry stone walls and “Trims” (stone huts), made of natural stone without binders. Dry stone walling is a very old construction technique in the Mediterranean region, applied, for instance, to build walls and stone huts (“Trims”) for various agricultural purposes (for example, creating land areas for grapevines and other traditional crops).

Fragrant lavender is at home here – we suggest you taste local delicacies made of this aromatic plant.

In June or at the beginning of July, the Festival of Lavender in Velo Grablje showcases numerous local products made from lavender or inspired by this well-known Mediterranean plant. From the traditional essential oil to various wellness and beauty products, artistic fashion accessories, and home decorations in lavender colors and shapes.
