What Personal Data Do We Collect and Why Do We Collect It

Cookies

Google AdSense advertisements on our site use cookies to deliver ads. If you consent to ad personalization, Google will use your data to show you more useful ads. Here you can find more on how Google uses information from sites that use their services

Some links on this website are affiliate links. When you click on an affiliate link, a cookie is placed to mark that you came to our partner’s website from our website. The duration of that cookie is from 30 to 90 days, depending on the partner’s website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Analytics

In order for us to know more about, for example, what kind of content interests our visitors, so that we can create and publish more of that kind of content (articles, photos, etc.) on our site; we use the services of Google Analytics to find out what articles on our site are the most popular ones. Also, that way we are able to understand better how visitors engage with our site. For example, from what countries are our visitors, how they come to our site (directly, from another website or social media site, from a search engine, etc.).

Additionally, we use the services of Google Analytics for these data-providing categories: Google Signals and ad personalization.

This means that when you visit our website, your web browser automatically sends certain information to Google. The data is kept by Google Analytics for 14 months and then deleted. Here you can find more on how Google uses information from sites that use their services

Security

In order to offer you a safe browsing experience on this site, we use the services of Wordfence Security by Defiant, Inc. Wordfence collects data for the purposes of detection, prevention, and resolution of security and technical issues. You can find more information in the text below.

“Defiant automatically collects Customer and End User search queries and the date and time of the Customer and/or End User’s request and referral URL. Depending on the settings of a Customer and/or End User’s computer or mobile device (“Device”), Defiant also automatically collects IP address; MAC address; Device make, model, and operating system version; mobile network information; internet service provider; browser type and language; country and time zone in which the Device is located; and metadata stored on the Device. When permitted, Defiant also may collect data about a User’s geographic location through GPS, beacons, and similar technology.” Source – Defiant, Inc.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

The content of this site is not directed toward children. Since the content of this site is not intended for those under the age of 18, we will not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
