AMBIENTA, the 49th International Furniture, Interior Decoration and Supporting Industry Fair will take place from 13 – 16 October at Zagreb Fair. Discover more about this Croatian fair.
Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Zagreb, and with the partner Hrvatske šume (Croatian Forests) and the Italian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce, this year again Ambienta presents a comprehensive exhibition program to include quality topics, thus confirming its status of the central national business event in the wood processing industry and production.

In pavilion 5 at 6,500 m2 of exhibition space, 146 exhibitors from 12 countries will present their products and services.

With a focus on interior decoration, design, and related industries, Ambienta is an excellent place for inspiration on home decoration and the redesign of existing spaces.
Design Zone, Art Fair, Horeca Equipment, Construction, and Equipping
Above all, a special unit – Design Zone features designer innovations in furniture manufacture, while the accompanying exhibition of works of art – Art Fair offers an artistic upgrade with works created by painters. Within the scope of the Fair, a special place belongs to the industrial segment of the Horeca equipment and the segment Construction and Equipping.

A Rich Program of Professional Events
In addition to the exhibition segment, along with the presentation of novelties, a comprehensive professional and educational program will be prepared.
On 13 and 14 October, the Croatian Chamber of Architects will organize a two-day conference titled “Scope of architectural services and fees”. The main goal of the Conference is to provide detailed information to its members, as well as to Croatian experts and the interested public, about the standards of architectural services in European countries, the usual levels of scope and content of the architectural projects, and technical documentation, and the current fees for architectural services in the EU.
Architects from Austria, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and the UK, experienced planners, and experts on issues of standards and prices of architectural services will speak at the Conference.
Ecology and Energy – Panel Discussion Topics
The partner of the Fair is the Italian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce which will organize a panel discussion called “The man at the center of design” on Saturday, 15 October with the topics: Ecological transition, Energy and environmental sustainability, restoration and refurbishment of heritage in residential units under protection with the participation of three renowned Italian architects Ing. Corrado Faglioni, Enerplan Spa, Ing. Leonardo Mondini, Arklook Srl, Arch. Shaghayegh Vahidi, Arklook Srl, and Ada Kezić from Croatian product design company A1 Format.
There will also be a lecture by the expert of the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute on the current topic “Efficient energy use in the household” as well as the presentation of the application “Checking the Efficiency of Devices” that enables choosing an efficient device. The application provides an easy way to compare and calculate the operating costs for the product models you choose, over the entire life of the product. This makes the decision to buy the optimal model of a new household appliance easier.
On Thursday, 13 October, the Voice of Entrepreneurs Association organizes a conference on the topic “BUILD YOUR BUSINESS”. The main goal of the Conference is to provide more detailed information to entrepreneurs from the sectors of construction, architecture, interior, and exterior design, as well as to students and future entrepreneurs about possible ways of running their business, anti-seismic building systems, negotiation skills, as well as marketing and client relations.

Promoting Ecologically Appropriate, Socially Beneficial, and Profitable Management of the World’s Forests
FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL® (FSC®) is an international, non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting ecologically appropriate, socially beneficial, and profitable management of the world forests. They will participate in this year’s Ambienta to support and promote FSC certification in Croatia and to celebrate 20 years of FSC certification of Croatian forests.

Hrvatske Šume (Croatian Forests) to Mark 20 Years of FSC® Certificate
On the opening day of Ambienta, 13 October, Hrvatske šume celebrates 20 years of certification with the FSC® forest stewardship certificate. FSC® certification means that the forest is managed according to strict ecological, social, and economic standards.
The above-mentioned certificate signifies a great honor and an international recognition of the method of forest stewardship within the “Hrvatske šume” company that takes place in accordance with strict criteria. Hereby, the Croatian forestry profession, which has been responsibly managing an extremely important national resource for generations, received huge recognition.
Moreover, the fact that “Hrvatske šume” can market all its products as FSC® certified is of great importance for the Croatian wood industry, considering that the largest part of the raw material comes from this source. Wood processors recognized this opportunity and many also obtained FSC® certificates and thereby gained a great comparative advantage.
The existence of the certificate should stimulate the export orientation of our wood industry so as to achieve greater added value to the products. The fact that Croatia was the first country in the region to obtain the FSC® certificate also means a great step forward for Croatian forestry and as such is one of the larger achievements of this branch.
Art Fair
The autumn auction 2022 by the Kontura auction house to take place on Saturday, 15 October, will offer 55 works of art.
Undoubtedly, we should highlight the painting by Menci Clement Crnčić (1865 – 1930) In the twilight from 1922, an intimate realization of somewhat symbolic meaning.
The painter Bela Čikoš Sesija (1864 – 1931) is represented by two works. The portrait of a young priest created around 1899 is a wonderful example of Čikoš portrait from the period of the birth of Croatian pictorial symbolism. A little later, in 1916, Čikoš painted a reclining female nude, Reminiscence II (oil on canvas). It is a painting with a certain melancholic atmosphere, and the painter’s choice of motifs and method of realization brilliantly evokes the time of its creation.
The still underappreciated painter Joso Bužan (1873 – 1936) is represented with work in oil on canvas technique. The work Purple Veil from 1934 confirms the painter’s virtuosity in the realization of realistic motifs shaped by various light sources and is a fine example of high painting quality.
A nice counterpoint to the classic Bužan act is the work of Marino Tartaglia (1894 – 1984) Figure, a work of emblematic modernity created at the turn of the 1950s to 1960s.
Contemporary Croatian Art
From the corpus of works of contemporary Croatian art, we highlight the works of Sebastijan Dračić (oil on canvas), Petra Grozaj (Spring, oil on canvas), and the work of Stjepan Šandrk (Martina in Lauba II).
Among other authors are the following famous artists: Gordana Bakić, Anka Bestall, Dubravko Budić, Josip Crnobori, Danko Friščić, Mladen Galić, Oton Postružnik, Nikola Reiser, Vjenceslav Richter, Vilim Svečnjak, Paulina Jazvić, Ivo Kalina, Ana Barbić Katičić, Koraljka Kovač, Miron Makanec, Slavko Marić, Marijan Molnar, Edo Murtić, Dimitrije Popović, Zora Preradović, Ivo Režek, Ljudevit Šestić, Slavko Tomerlin, Josip Vaništa , Ivo Vojvodić, Milivoj Uzelac.
There are also two bronze casts (A.G. Matoš and Self-Portrait) by the sculptor Branko Ružić (1919 – 1997) and his unique work in wood (“Animal”).
