Discover how to decorate your dining room table for the holidays – with natural and traditional colors and ornaments.
At the beginning of designing the natural and traditional holiday dining table, choose the color palette of tablecloths, table toppers, napkins, tableware, and chair slipcovers, inspired by Nature and traditional holiday colors – tints, tones, and shades of red and green.
Complementary Color Palette of Traditional Holiday Décor
Combining energetic red and relaxing green hues creates a complementary color palette of traditional holiday colors. These two colors of love complement and highlight one another, thus creating a very strong decorative duo. When it comes to plates, cups, and bowls that contain both green and red, by combining them with a monochrome tablecloth and napkins, they’ll become more accentuated.
The red tablecloth on your dining room table is a beautiful and energetic choice that adds a warmer look to the entire interior. The fiery appearance of the tablecloth can be emphasized by placing green and red plates on the table. On the other hand, it can be “cooled off” by mixing and matching red and white plates or table decorations, adding crystal glasses and glass ornaments to the decorative scheme, and white or silver napkins. For creating a winter look, place glass decorations shaped like snowflakes or a snowman, or choose a red tablecloth and gray and white plates with a snowflakes pattern (like the ones in the photos).
Natural Table Centerpiece
In a natural and traditional version of a holiday table arrangement, match and complement these lovely colors with the centerpiece created of Christmas tree ornaments combined with green branches, glittering stars, and lights, floral, fruit and vegetable arrangements, sweet cookies. These colorful decorations can also be placed next to each plate (for example, decor-gift for every family member).
If your holiday table setting consists of one-colored fabrics and dishes, the focal point of each plate can also be created in the form of decorative napkin folding or napkins decorated with Christmas tree ornaments, lace or ribbon, napkin rings, branches, and flowers, stars, and lights.
Have fun and enjoy the creative expression of decorating your holiday dining table.
