Nestled on the banks of the River Kennet and surrounded by the rolling chalk hills of the Marlborough Downs, Marlborough Tiles has long drawn inspiration from the Wiltshire countryside. The English Garden Delft collection celebrates the quiet beauty of English gardens, from sunflowers and geraniums to robins, hedgehogs, and wood pigeons, capturing the rhythm, harmony, and abundant life of the natural world that surrounds the factory every day.

From the playful hedgehog to the cheerful sunflower, every tile reflects a personal connection to the gardens, wildlife, and everyday objects that inspire the team. A highlight of the collection is the corner motif, sourced from Marlborough’s mid-20th-century archive, which blends the company’s rich heritage with a contemporary take on Delft, celebrating the artistry and craftsmanship that have defined Marlborough Tiles for nearly a century.

Every tile in the English Garden Delft collection is hand-painted with the traditional Majolica technique, in which color is applied directly to raw glazed tiles before firing. This method, employed by Marlborough Tiles since 1936, ensures depth, warmth, and texture in every piece. No two tiles are ever identical, allowing subtle, organic variations that celebrate the beauty of handmade craftsmanship.

The collection offers hand-painted tiles in two signature Delft colors: Rosalind Blue and Sylvia Blue, named in honor of Marlborough Tiles’ founders, Rosalind Ord and Sylvia Packard. These designs, finished with a subtle crackle glaze that offers ageless charm and depth, bring a timeless decorative touch to contemporary interiors, whether placed sparingly or repeated across walls, fireplaces, splashbacks, or feature panels.

English Garden Delft is hand-crafted on a 13×13 cm biscuit with a gently undulating surface and is available in two base shades: Chalk White and Antique White.
