A few steps from the center of Bolzano and overlooking the vineyards of one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, “Convivio 2.0” comes to life, an apartment design for a young couple who have decided to create a space capable of welcoming both their family and friends. CONVIVIO 2.0 Apartment Design Project – A Name That Tells a Deep Bond
Convivio 2.0 is born as a true homage to the strength of conviviality. Inspired by the famous work of Dante, which the client studied alongside architect Dal Negro during their high school years, the project also emphasizes a deep friendship, aiming to revive that same energy of meeting and sharing that has always characterized the client’s life.
Even in their previous homes, the kitchen has always played a central role in daily dynamics, like a ritual: it was a place to gather, share moments of life, cook, and tell stories around the same table. For this reason, Convivio 2.0 is the natural evolution of a well-established environment where design reconciles with one of the oldest and most classic moments of social sharing: dinner.
The Kitchen: Heart and Soul of the Apartment
In Convivio 2.0, the kitchen is not just a functional space; it is the true center of the home. Here, where conviviality takes shape, every detail is designed to stimulate encounters. The clients are very sociable and lively people, and for this reason, every interior space is characterized by bright and vibrant colors. An elegant and distinctive copper hood captures the eye, complementing the green and beige tones of the furniture, to create an exuberant yet refined atmosphere. The architect wanted every corner of this home to be designed to promote social interaction, with fluid and welcoming spaces that make everyone feel at home.

At the center of the living area, the colorful ceiling of the kitchen serves a technical function and also becomes a distinctive feature that contributes to the visual continuity of the spaces. In addition to concealing ventilation, cooling, and lighting systems, the ceiling recalls the shape of the kitchen’s central island, providing a sense of unity and harmony.
The soft curves continue into the living room, both vertically and horizontally. The walls are adorned with splashes of color that serve as a backdrop and frame for the lighting elements. The living area is complemented by a bright, south-facing balcony with a beautiful view of the vineyards of Bolzano.
The Centrality of Colors in Apartment Design
The flooring chosen is a natural oak herringbone parquet that extends throughout the apartment, making the spaces visually larger and brighter. The diagonal lines of the parquet guide the eye in every direction, creating a sense of movement and spatial continuity. The same wood is also used for the window frames.
Through a corridor, one reaches a small windowless guest bathroom. This custom-designed bathroom utilizes every centimeter of space, accommodating a sink, a toilet, a shower, and a laundry area in less than 3 square meters. In this limited interior space, architect Dal Negro has managed to create a small jewel of functionality and aesthetics. The color red characterizes the environment, appearing on the “terrazzo” style tiles, the fixtures, and the equipped furniture. In doing so, an immersive experience is created, making a secondary space unique.
“Every space designed by Andrea makes us feel at home. The colors highlight our personalities, and the environments allow us to perceive ourselves deeply within this common project,” the clients said.
Continuing, one enters the first bedroom, which has access to the balcony. At the end of the corridor, one finally enters the master bedroom: composed of a sleeping area and a spacious bathroom that echoes the vibrant colors of the other spaces, working on a clear spatial division through two types of tiles: the first, light, terrazzo style with a more fragmented composition than that of the other bathroom, is laid on the floor and on the walls up to half height. Following this are grass-green tiles that echo the color used throughout the apartment. Completing the shower area, a wall-mounted waterfall introduces an additional element of well-being.

Convivio 2.0 is more than just an interior design project: it is the realization of a desire, where every element is designed to express vitality and conviviality for living together. With its vibrant apartment design, architect Andrea Dal Negro has transformed a house into a place where every space tells of hospitality, well-being, and deep relationships.
