Sleep – Europe’s globally acclaimed hotel design and development event takes place in London’s Business Design Centre on 21-22 November. Here, visitors are discovering newly launched and innovative products from the renowned UK & international brands, gaining inspiration and insight from celebrated names shaping the industry today and experiencing inspiring installations in a show that is promising to stimulate all the senses.

The Sleep Set competition is a conceptual playground where international design practices are tasked with translating the year’s theme into physical hospitality environments. This year’s topic is “Loyalty: Lessons in Love”, and the participants are London-based MKV Design, Stonehill Taylor from New York, the Italian company, Il Prisma, and 1508 London.

Eternity Accessories by Sebastian Conran – for VitrA
Not to be missed are the special events that a number of exhibitors hold on their stands. These include VitrA, where Sebastian Conran makes a series of presentations about Eternity Accessories, his exclusive new range for VitrA; and Brintons, where Kelly Hoppen MBE hosts a drinks reception to discuss her inspiration behind her first-ever collaboration with a carpet brand: The Kelly Hoppen Collection by Brintons.

Knightsbridge Furniture also hosts a competition to win the latest Apple Watch. Guests are invited to go on a trail, looking for stands on which Knightsbridge’s products feature throughout the Exhibition. Entries are made by filling out maps available from the Knightsbridge stand (Stand M4a), from which the winner will be announced at 17:00 on Day Two.

Sleep’s free-to-attend Conference includes panel discussions exploring emerging topics in the hotel design and development sector, the chance to hear from acclaimed designers, and the opportunity to join in Roundtable conversations with some of the key industry names. Tristan Auer opens proceedings with a keynote looking at how to revive great historic buildings and Jeffrey Beers discusses “Emotional Modernism” in the afternoon. Day Two will open with Eero Koivisto considering “Space Manipulation”, while the afternoon will feature Chui Man Wong and Maria Warner Wong in conversation about the meaning of new luxury.
Bang & Olufsen’s BeoSound Shape
Visitors are also experiencing the auditory delights of a specially created Sleep soundtrack compiled by Music Concierge and played throughout the show via Bang & Olufsen’s newly launched BeoSound Shape, a modular, wireless audio system.
Sense the Fragrance
London-based concept perfume brand, AULI, is ensuring that Sleep remains fragrant. The company designs bespoke fragrances and products inspired by a philosophy rooted in connecting the senses with specific spaces, to create memories and emotional attachments. In addition to featuring its existing products, AULI is showcasing its bespoke fragrance creation service, which offers hoteliers the opportunity to create their own signature scent.

During Sleep, you are welcome to sample the many creative drinks on offer at the Sleeper Bar, the event’s main networking hub, designed this year is by Irina and Olga Sundukovy from Moscow-based Design & Architecture Studio, Sundukovy Sisters.
