At the International Tourism Fair PLACE2GO, held from March 17 to 19 at the Arena Zagreb, Croatia, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia won the award for “The Best Promotion of a Travel Destination”.
Photo Exhibition “Journey to Thousands of Islands”
During PLACE2GO, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy the photo exhibition “Journey to Thousands of Islands” by Damir Zuruba, world champion in underwater photography. The exhibition presented a series of fascinating photographs taken during the photographer’s travels throughout Indonesia. Every photo is like a window into the colorful world of the Indonesian archipelago. The exhibition “Journey to Thousands of Islands” was held under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Croatia.
Traditional Indonesian Dance – Gembira
Throughout all three days of the fair, visitors to the stand of Indonesia could enjoy the performance of dancers who performed the traditional Indonesian dance Gembira.
Gembira dance originates in Central Java and its elements display a childhood full of joy while every movement of the dance represents a cheerful child’s life. This dance is usually performed during the wedding ceremony or during any festive event including the Independence Day.
Indonesian culinary specialties were also served at the stand as well as during various events, thus giving visitors the taste of Indonesia.
Indonesia Presents “The Ten New Bali Islands”
Bali is the most famous travel destination in Indonesia. This lovely island fascinates with its culture, beaches, dynamic dances and music. Being the leading travel brand of Indonesia, the island of Bali annually attracts about 4 million tourists, which is 40% of the total number of visitors. However, Indonesia still has many unexplored islands with magnificent views of the mountains, vast areas of rainforests, coastline suitable for surfing and deep sea ideal for diving, swimming with dugongs, dolphins and large rays.
There are many attractive destinations of the Indonesian archipelago; therefore, as the motto of their tourist campaign, Indonesia presents the story of “The Ten New Bali Islands”. These are the following destinations: Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Belitung (Bangka Belitung), Tanjung Lesung (Banten), Islands Seribu (Jakarta), the Temple of Borobudur (Central Java), Mount Bromo (East Java), Mandalika Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara), Komodo Islands (East Nusa Tenggara), Wakatobi National Park (Southeast Sulawesi) and Morotai (North Maluku).
