Norwegian designers exhibit for the first time their acoustical wool tiles in Hall A during Stockholm Furniture Fair

The design duo Birgitte Linde Røsvik (25) and Mats Herding Solberg (27) from Rom & Tonik debuts this week in the scandinavian design stage with the acoustical product FeltTile. Being a new company with limited budgets, they have designed, planned and built their stand them selves.

Brand new
After months of hard work the fair has started and the designers are eager to hear how their products are received by the international market. FeltTile was recently launched for sale in Norway, and the duo are now working to establish their network of distributers in Norway, and later in Danmark and Sweeden.

Technology meets design
The idea came forth while Mats and Birgitte were writing their master thesis in industrial design at NTNU in Trondheim. They discovered that wool has several unknown qualities, and they are now looking to introduce wool as a technical textile in office spaces. Through an appealing Scandinavian design and focus on sustainability and function, Rom & Tonik are engaging in the stribe for better work environments.

100% Natural sound dampening
Their first product FeltTile consists of 100% rough Mongolian sheeps wool. The panels can be mounted together to create separation walls with excellent acoustical properties. The flexible system is mounted from the ceiling, and is an innovative way of solving acoustical challenges using a traditional natural material.

From Vigra to Mongolia
The company is established in Norways furniture region, Sunnmøre at the small island Vigra. The Norwegian company Tova took the young designers to Mongolia for prototyping and testproduction. The possibilities for production were good, and all of Rom & Toniks felt production is now located in the city of Erdenet in the north west of the capital of this ancient empire.
