Animals are sentient beings; they are our friends, not food or materials for clothing or furnishings. World Animal Day, celebrated annually on October 4th, raises awareness of animal welfare. On the occasion of World Animal Protection Day, Archi-living.com shares a few tips on how to design your life in an animal-friendly way.
Animals enrich our lives; let’s make the world a better place for them.
World Animal Day: How to Style Your Life in a Green and Animal-Friendly Way

What we eat and buy, how we design our homes and workspaces, and which materials we choose for our furniture and clothes all shape our lifestyle. Are our choices eco-friendly and cruelty-free when it comes to food, clothing, cosmetics, and furnishings? These are decisions we make every day, and they affect the environment and animal welfare. If you think you’re just “a drop in the ocean” and your choices don’t make a difference, think again: every drop counts. So, how can each of us help protect the environment and animals? Here are a few ideas.
Choose Cruelty-Free Materials and Products: Make Every Day World Animal Day

Decide to buy only cruelty-free products. These might include cosmetics and cleaning products not tested on animals, as well as clothing and furnishings made from vegan materials such as organic cotton, linen, hemp, bamboo, and cactus or fruit-based ‘leather’.
Choose a Green, Animal-Friendly Diet: Organic Plant-Based Foods

Choose an organically grown plant-based (vegan) diet. Your body and our planet will thank you. Here are some of my favorites:
- olive oil
- pasta made from chickpeas, peas, or lentils
- rice, quinoa, and buckwheat
- a colorful mix of vegetables and fruits on my plate
- herbs and spices from around the world
- seeds such as sunflower, chia, sesame, flax, and pumpkin
- a variety of nuts
- green tea and sage tea
- plant ‘milk’ beverages…
Be Vegan for the Animals: Exercise Compassion and Kindness

People become vegan for three main reasons: their health, the animals, and the environment. I became vegan a few years ago for all three reasons (after being vegetarian). A plant-based diet supports my well-being and that of the entire planet. In this blog post, I share vegan quotes: thoughts about veganism, a plant-based lifestyle, and compassion and kindness toward animals and the environment.

“The more we understand about life, in general, the more we value the lives of all creatures.” Paul Johnson
“I’m vegan for animals because they deserve to live in peace just like we do.” Genesis Butler
“When I see bacon, I see a pig, I see a little friend, and that’s why I can’t eat it. Simple as that.” Paul McCartney
“To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being.” Mahatma Gandhi

“It’s a lifestyle more than just a diet because you have ethical reasons as well, being conscious of what is happening in the animal world.” Novak Djokovic
“I am passionate about giving animals a voice. I adopted a vegan diet because it didn’t feel fair to have a dog I adore and yet eat meat all the time.” Alex Morgan
“Mainly, I’m a vegan because I like animals, and I don’t want to be involved in their suffering. Also, it’s better for my health and for the environment.” Moby
