QuadroDesign Presents Temporary Installation to Permanent Architecture

A sustainable installation at the Salone Internazionale del Bagno. Enrico Magistro, art director and co-founder of QuadroDesign alongside his sister Elena, will present at the upcoming Salone Internazionale del Bagno, a booth designed by Giacomo Moor and conceived from the outset as a transformable structure, intended to have a second life after the exhibition. In fact, at the end of the fair, the installation will be dismantled, transported, and reassembled in Zambia as a permanent architectural piece: it will become Masala’s first public bathroom. Temporary Structure Evolves into Architecture

Giacomo Moor Studio developed a system for QuadroDesign based on a special aluminium joint that, when combined with a light and essential wooden framework, enables movement through the space in four directions, turning the booth into a scalable construction system. The project thus demonstrates how a temporary structure can evolve into an architecture that is adaptable to different contexts and functions.

Thanks to the collaboration with Koalisation, an Italian company active in carbon finance and operating directly on the ground in Zambia, the installation will be transformed into a fully fledged structure complete with internal rooms, walls, and a roof. The public bathroom will be located near Masala’s charcoal market and will be equipped with toilets, showers, and changing rooms.

A concrete initiative in a setting where women mainly work, often accompanied by their children, and where adequate sanitary conditions are currently lacking.

The lighting, designed by Platek, is also an integral part of the infrastructure.

Installation in Africa is scheduled for late August 2026.
