Design: Werner Baumhakl
After earning a degree in architecture from the Technische Universität München (TUM), Werner Baumhakl went on to study industrial design at the renowned Hochschule für Gestaltung in Schwäbisch Gmünd (HfG Gmünd). He then worked for designer Wolfgang C.R. Mezger; for Rolf Heide, interior architect and designer in Hamburg; as studio manager for the “wiege” Wilkhahn design company in Hannover; and in the management team of designaffairs in Munich. In 2003 he founded the design agency “oid” (office industrial design). His design projects have won numerous international awards. In 2002 Werner Baumhakl was appointed Professor and Institute Head of the Academy of Art and Design of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) in Basel. Since 2010 he has been on the board of the Swiss Design Association and has participated in various design juries and commissions. Werner Baumhakl lives and works in Basel.
