On 23 October 2025, an apartment furnished through the project #StanZaSutra was officially presented. The project was initiated by Zagreb Fair, i.e., the 52nd International Fair Ambienta, to combine the vision of a sustainable and functional home with a concrete example of social responsibility and solidarity.

During the run of the fair, a specially designed exhibition space demonstrated how a home can be environmentally friendly, aesthetically appealing, and affordable. After the closing of the fair, all furniture, appliances, and equipment were donated to furnish an apartment for young people without parental care from the Semi-Independent Living Programme under the care of SOS Children’s Villages Croatia.

This donation provides young future residents Sara and Barbara with much-needed living space for an easier and more comfortable interdependent start, created with care for both people and the environment. As Sara and Barbara excitedly commented, they cannot wait to move in and begin a new chapter of their lives.

The realization of this significant project was made possible owing to the support of the City of Zagreb, the main partner JYSK Croatia, and the partners Aid Furniture, Chromos Paints and Varnishes, Feal, Gorenje, Rockwool, and SG Forma. Through joint efforts, the companies promoted the blend of sustainability and solidarity.

The apartment presentation was attended by: Lora Vidović, Head of the City Office for Social Protection, Health, Veterans and Persons with Disabilities of the City of Zagreb, Renata Suša, Zagreb Fair Director, Zvjezdana Sirk Novak, Regional Communications Manager at JYSK Croatia, Gordana Daniel, National Programme Development Director at SOS Children’s Villages Croatia, as well as representatives of the project’s partner companies.

“This is the final and most beautiful stage of our project #StanZaSutra. It all began at the Ambienta Fair, where we wanted to show and educate visitors on what a sustainable, functional, and beautiful home can look like in reality, and also to demonstrate that sustainability does not have to mean giving up aesthetics or comfort. The space we created at the fair inspired many visitors, and today, along with all the furniture and the equipment, it has found its true home here”, said Renata Suša, Zagreb Fair Director.

“We are here to show, open, and present this apartment, this project, this new future. We wish to draw attention to a particularly vulnerable group of children who, unfortunately, do not have the opportunity to grow up in their own families, the children who, for various reasons, live in children’s homes, in SOS Villages or with foster families,” emphasized Lora Vidović, Head of the City Office for Social Protection, Health, Veterans and Persons with Disabilities.

Zvjezdana Sirk Novak, Regional Communications Manager at JYSK Croatia, highlighted that they were pleased to accept the invitation to participate in a project they found interesting because it offered a new way to present their products, while also emphasizing the importance of the project’s socially responsible dimension.

Gordana Daniel, National Programme Development Director at SOS Children’s Villages Croatia, described the project as a seed that grew into a beautiful story. “This is a project that has developed into an example of caring for young people, the environment, and sustainability”, said Daniel.

This project confirms the significance of cooperation between the public, private, and non-profit sectors in creating opportunities for young people who are just beginning their independent lives.
