Winmao is a sketch proposal for a tourism building located in Melaka (Malacca), Malaysia. The main idea was to come up with an iconic building whose concept is based upon the rich blend of cultures that run rampant through Melaka (Malacca). Early-Sketch_resize.jpg Early sketches attempted to show a form of organized chaos within the building, with each section representing a different culture that can be found in Melaka (Malacca). Each would have its own unique style that would not only differ but still would complement the other styles within the building. Flag-concept-image_resize.jpg The main inspiration for the building came from observing the movements of a flag fluttering in the wind. The beautiful dynamism within its ever oscillating figure complemented the landscape of Melaka (Malacca) and her ever-changing but still uniquely recognizable form. 001.RGB_color_resize.jpg Some of the things that would help push the building towards being recognized as an iconic structure (a request given to him by his client) would be its placement. Situated next to the scenic Melaka river, the building would be seen by both locals and tourists alike as they enjoyed popular river cruises and walk across bridges that connect one side of the city to another. 005.RGB_color_resize.jpg In conclusion, the Winmao Tourism Mart is a building of grace and elegance, one that symbolizes the every changing dynamic culture of Melaka (Malacca). A building that not only embodies the ideals of its designer, but conveys the love and perception that the Melakan people hold for foreigners who wish to experience the exquisite beauty that Melaka has to offer. 003.RGB_color_resize.jpg The architect is Mohammed Majdi Hamada, a young Middle-Eastern university student who in 2013 founded the architectural firm – TheModmin. Since then, he has had the opportunity to work in both the architecture industry (as a Main Architect) and the world of architectural visualization. Hamada_img_007_resize.jpg His works include being in charge of the conceptual ideation and design for a proposed stadium in Zuwarah, Libya, a proposal which in the end was not only chosen, but is currently being constructed in time for the 2017 African Cup of Nations. 004_resize.jpg He has also had the honour of working as both an Architect and visualizer for a Chevrolet showroom in Tripoli which is also currently in construction. Both of these are but a few of the public structures he has worked on, with several other private ones currently being constructed. THEMODMIN_0060182533601_03_resize.jpg Photos: www.themodmin.com
